O, Bagel, Where Art Thou?

Bagels are a wondrous stuff,
We eat these treats quite fast enough -
But oh, my goodness - the mess we make!
It gives a chap the belly-ache!
We poor lads, 'tis our turn now
To clean as best our hands allow.
Today, enjoy the treats at hand
Bread loaves are fine - but bagels? GRAND!
Say, for what were wheat-yards tilled,
And why is Dunkin' always filled?
Oh, many a peer of Jersey bakes
Better batters than sugar cakes.
A bagel is a morning treat
To get you up and on your feet.
Oh, I have had those bagels fair
Sometimes one, sometimes a pair -
Onion, raisin, cinnamon, seeded
Some with oats or poppy beaded!
We munch them quickly (to be clear)
If we have cream-cheese to smear.
And it's not just cheese we have to cram -
What's a bread without the Jam?
Jams and Jellies of berry and grape
Made from fruits of every shape!
And if those spreads aren't your type,
Place on it a butter-stripe!
Ah, but what I love the most -
Isn't just bagels, but bagel toast!
Pop it in to crisp each part,
It warms the bread; but also heart.
So enjoy these torus treats -
And now my DD friends - Let's Eat!
