HAPPY DONUT DAY, DIGITAL DOMAIN!

Prometheus brought man the gift of fire
A present that warranted the God's greatest ire.
And in that tradition of legends so grand
I bring more from Olympus to your open hand:
I bring you the doughnut - a perfect glazed cake
A treat for which fire man would gladly forsake.
A round torus treat, an ambrosia from heaven
As filling as manna but donuts are leavened!
Made in the fires of Vulcan's great Forge
This heavenly treat upon which we gorge
Has been shared with men great and small
From Digital Domain to Valhalla's hall
Some are full of lemon cream
Some a fluffy, chocolate dream,
Some are sugared, some are plain,
On some are rainbow sprinkles lain.
Krueller, chocolate, cinnamon twist -
But the favorite on the list -
The one that leaves us ever amazed
Has always been the original glazed!
No fancy shapes, no powdery dust,
Only cake with a sweet sugar crust.
A treat my grandparents enjoyed
By wives at home, and their soldiers deployed,
By man and woman, old and young,
By collars of blue and white shared among,
By doctors and lawyers and painters and priests
The sick and the poor enjoy leavened yeasts!
Enjoy! Here on our warm summer sands
Or in winter with coffee, to warm frigid hands!
Early in summer under swaying palm trees
By the beach, in the sand with the sound of the seas,
High in the mountains on snow covered peeks
Where cold grips your hands and pinches your cheeks.
Across miles of oceans and long desert sands,
Across streets and meadows and snow covered lands!
A treat shared across our blue little sphere
Upon Donut Day Friday once every year!
Enjoyed by the Brians and the Toms and the Tims, by the Bens and the Kourtneys and Kathys and Kims
The Garys, the Karas, the Lindsays, the Rons, the Jameses, the Chrises, the Brookes, and the Jons.
And now my friends at Digital Domain
Upon our own counters donuts are lain!
So enjoy them today! And share them around!
Because breakfast is grand, but donuts? PROFOUND!
